What makes a strong application?

A specific description of your design specialty (e.g., "vintage aviation dials," "enamel motorsport designs") and a link to existing work — Instagram, a personal website, Etsy, or even a photo album. Applications without any portfolio reference take longer to evaluate.

Can my application be rejected?

Yes. We maintain quality standards to protect the integrity of the Artisan Dials brand. If your application is declined, you're welcome to reapply after 60 days with updated portfolio work.

Is there a fee to apply or become an artisan?

No. Applying and maintaining your artisan account is completely free. Artisan Dials earns a commission on sales of your listed dials — see the Artisan Terms for details.

How do I log in after I'm approved?

Go to artisandials.com/artisan and click "Artisan Login." Use the email address and temporary password from your welcome email. You can update your display name and profile details once you're in.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Email info@artisandials.com with the subject line "Password Reset" and the email address on your account. We'll send you a new temporary password within one business day.

What goes on my public profile?

Your profile photo, display name, bio, specialty, location, and website link — all set in the "My Profile" tab. Your published articles and uploaded dials also appear on your public page at artisandials.com/artisans/[your-id].

Does my profile appear publicly right away?

Accepted Answer

Your profile page exists immediately after approval, but you only appear in the public Artisans directory once you have at least one approved article. Upload a dial and submit an article to get listed.

Can I have multiple artisan accounts?

No. Each artisan is permitted one account. If you need to update your email address or other credentials, contact us directly.

How many dials can I list?

Free artisan accounts can list up to 3 dials at a time. If you'd like to list more, reach out to us at info@artisandials.com to discuss expanded listing options.

What image format and size should I use?

JPEG or PNG, at least 800×800px, ideally 1200×1200px or larger. The site automatically converts PNG files to JPEG for performance. Use a clean, neutral background and good lighting — this is the primary thing collectors judge.

Can I add multiple photos to one listing?

Yes — up to 10 images per dial. Use the extra slots for detail shots, side angles, or photos on a watch case. Listings with multiple photos consistently get more engagement.

How do I set a price?

Choose from our preset price tiers (Dial Only $90, Quartz Watch $195, Automatic Watch $295, Special Edition $350) or enter a custom price. If you're unsure, start with a preset — you can edit the price later from the My Dials tab.

Can I edit or remove a listing after uploading?

Yes. Go to the "My Dials" tab in the portal to view, edit, or delete any of your listings.

Do my dials go live immediately?

Yes. Dial listings are published immediately after upload — no approval queue. Make sure your photo and description are ready before submitting.

What kind of articles can I write?

Anything watch or design related: build logs, design inspiration stories, the history behind a theme, technique breakdowns, collector spotlights. The best-performing articles tell a personal story — why you made a particular design, what it means to you.

How long does article review take?

Usually 1–2 business days. You'll see a "Pending" status badge in your My Articles tab while it's under review. If it's rejected, you'll see an admin note explaining why and you can revise and resubmit.

Can I include videos in my articles?

Yes — up to 2 short video clips per article (MP4, MOV, or WebM, max 100 MB each). These appear as click-to-play players at the bottom of your article. Keep clips short — process shots, detail reveals, and assembly footage work best.

Can I edit an article after it's published?

Currently, published articles cannot be edited through the portal. If you need a correction, email info@artisandials.com with the article title and the change needed.

Does writing articles affect my profile visibility?

Yes — you must have at least one approved article to appear in the public Artisans directory. Articles also drive organic search traffic to your profile, so publishing regularly is one of the best ways to grow your audience.

How does the commission structure work?

Artisan Dials handles all payment processing, customer service, and fulfillment logistics. A commission is deducted from each sale of your listed dials. The exact rate is detailed in the Artisan Terms of Use, which you agree to during the application process.
